Have you ever said this? Let’s face it, we all feel this way at some time of our lives. But is it factual? Is it really true? Honestly, probably not. Let’s look at this statement. When you say you’re bored, what are you really saying? The fact is, you are not looking at what you have, who you are, what skills and talents you currently possess, the family and friends you have(even if it’s just one person), and your freedom to pick and choose any activity, at any time, anywhere.
So when you say you’re bored, it really means you haven’t attempted to find something new or interesting, to read about, learn about, practice or get involved with, etc. It also means that you’ve forgotten to take stock of all your gifts, talents, skills, abilities, blessings, etc., and be truly thankful for them. Not as a lump, but individually. List them and you’ll see all that you are blessed with. Like me, it will be many more than you expect. Don’t believe me? Try it yourself and see it work.
I’ll start you off.
I’m thankful for my eyesight, hearing, full use of my hands, limbs, I can walk without assistance(so far), I can drive, jog, run, I can taste my food(SO glad for that this week with all the Thanksgiving yumminess), I have full use of my mind to think, learn and enjoy life(I LOVE finding new things to really research and learn about), I can speak, imagine, laugh…..
Ok now it’s YOUR turn.
Make your list and cherish it. Even if it’s not a long list. And find a NEW way to enjoy Thanksgiving-which is really about being thankful for all the things you put on your list. After you make your list, you won’t be bored but encouraged to find a ‘new’ thing.
My mother -in-law used to say, "Boring is good!". In her estimation it meant you didn't have problems.
