We all know the nursery rhyme, “Rock a bye baby, in the tree top”. However, is it just me or are the words to this song slightly morbid? I mean, what loving parent, guardian, or grandparent would put their baby in a cradle, in the top of a tree for starters? Geesh! And then which of those loving care takers would make a song about their baby falling to their death according to the lyrics of “when the bough breaks the cradle will fall, and down will come baby cradle and all"!” So then why would hundreds of loving parents sing this to their sweet, innocent baby? Whoa!! Which is EXACTLY my point. Each of us must choose our words carefully, including what we sing to one another. After all, we REALLY don’t want to send the wrong message with words of disaster, like this nursery rhyme does!
You know your words have meaning. So choose them, wisely. And make someone SMILE today. Including yourself! (and never sing a crazy song to your children!)
