In my last newsletter, I talked to you about finding your hidden skill or talent. Well did ya? Did ya? Tell me in the post what you found, I’m dying to find out!
In the last newsletter I also told you I’d tell you what my hidden talent was. So here goes. Growing up(yes, I’m very much an adult), I sang all the time. But…..I never was able to take lessons for any instruments. Not a one. Which is weird, because most of my relatives are all very skilled in one or more instruments. Piano, organ, fiddle, guitar, violin, you get the idea. But………………
NOT ME
Fast forward from my childhood to being an adult, and I longed to be able to take lessons for some kind of musical instrument. But alas, funds just weren’t there, nor the time to go to lessons on a weekly basis. (Something about being an adult and having responsibilities, blah, blah, blah! lol). But I still wished for it. THEN-
I found a piano book for kids, and I also found a free keyboard(with no power cord). After rummaging through my saved power cords(doesn’t everyone have a box of those?) I found one that worked and plugged that baby in. Eureka-power!! I started going through the children’s piano book to learn what chords were, notes, etc. And it didn’t take me near as long as I thought to pick it up. After a few months of practice, I could play a song with the chords. Yeehaw!!
What talent have you discovered for yourself? Let me know in the comments, I’m excited to find out. Let’s remember that talents don’t have to be the same, or large, or earth shattering fantastic to be important. Each skill is worth having, and for smiling about.
So let’s smile, knowing we’re ALWAYS growing into better people.
