Ok, ok, I admit it. My title for this week’s newsletter is both a jab at the subject and slightly humorous at the same time. This is not meant to be a ‘gross’ newsletter or one where I aim to make you queasy. There IS a funny (smile worthy) factor in here(and no, it’s not potty humor despite the subject) so bear with me and read to the end please. Ok so here it is. I was sitting in a Hospital waiting room the other day with a friend of mine, when I realized I needed to use the ‘facilities’(aka restroom). Upon entering the restroom, the thought struck me about how many public restrooms we use in our lifetime. Public being the key word and not your own private throne at home.
My thought wasn’t about how many times we use them, but in how many different locations and the types we’ve unfortunately needed to use. Here’s a beginner list from my own experiences. Maybe you can add different locations from your travels (put yours in the comment section below). Have you been to an exotic island? Or maybe you spend a lot of time in the inner city traveling by public bus, using the bus station privy. Each location has a different look to it, a different cleanliness to it, and of course, different characters within it. Ever entered a restroom only to be yelled at by someone to get out of their ‘house’? Yeah, it’s a little disturbing but also slightly comical. (I know I have a strange sense of humor!)
My list of public restrooms includes:
Doctors office - Hospital(many!)- Bank- Elementary School- College- IRS office- On a train- High school- the DMV- the airport- roadside rest area- a domestic plane- International airport- grocery store- international plane- a porta-potty- the courthouse- a subway- a restaurant(100’s!)- a camper- In San Paolo- a truck stop- an outhouse- lake side unit- an oceanside unit- at office for work- Church- bowling alley- ice rink- park(concrete unit)
County Fair- gas stations- police station- movie theater- amusement park- a boat- a museum- at an aquarium- auction- various states on vacation- dept. store/mall- hiking/camping-
Once I started making this list, I amazed even myself of all the different locations. Isn’t it funny the experiences we each have on an everyday basis, yet don’t think much about. Who knew!? So although talking about this may have you thinking about where the nearest restroom is, remember to be thankful there are public restrooms. Because the situation would NOT be funny if there weren’t any!
I have a small e-gift for anyone who can list the most unusual location (not an illegal location or a disgusting “shouldn’t happen location”) in the comment section. Your experiences and travels are vastly different than mine, so where has your life taken you? Maybe you got to use one at a castle, say Buckingham Palace maybe? I’ll bet theirs are really nice! Or maybe you’ve used a rockstar’s that was totally purple and shiny gold. I’ve actually used a purple and black designed bathroom as a guest at a rich home of a friend. Have you used one that plays classical music when you shut the door? Do you travel internationally? Maybe you’re a submariner and used one on the sub. Wherever your most unusual building location, put CLEAN comments in the comment section. Odd jobs sometimes have the most odd locations. Safari?
NOTE: I will remove bad, disgusting, crude, or filthy language comments in the comment section. Let’s all be clean minded adults here. Thanks!
